STURGEON BAY, WISCONSIN, September 30, 2019: This summer, producers from the Wisconsin Public Television and Wisconsin Public Radio show named “Wisconsin Life” approached Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay. The show profiles different industries, events, people and traditions from around the state.
Show host Angela Fitzgerald and a crew of four other videographers and producers spent the entire day Thursday, August 1 in Door County. Crews interviewed several tradespersons, toured the yard to learn of the entire shipbuilding process from steel delivery to construction, tried their hand at welding and took a ride up to the top of our gantry crane!
Just in time for Manufacturing Month, which is the month of October, the episode featuring our shipyard will air at 7pm on Thursday, October 3 on Wisconsin Public Television (PBS, WPNE). The TV segment will re-air on later dates while the radio segment will air that week on Wednesday and Friday on Wisconsin Public Radio at 6:45 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. during “Morning Edition” on the NPR News and Classical Music Network. You can also view it online after October 3 at https://www.wisconsinlife.org/
A special thanks to dozens of our employees who helped plan and prepare for the visit, participate through interviews and allow the crew to film our yard throughout the workday! We are excited to tell our story through this show, which reaches tens of thousands of people across the state of Wisconsin now and for years to come as the episode re-airs. Join us as we tune-in to watch the evening of October 3.
