This program is designed to put you on the fast track, grow your knowledge and skills and earn a paycheck while doing it. We invest in our apprentices and equip them with the hands-on learning, mentoring and training needed to thrive in a career at Fincantieri Marine Group. Apprenticeship opportunities are available for early career and experienced workers from all walks of life. Whether you are a recent high school graduate, GED equivalent, college student, military veteran, or transitioning worker – we have an opportunity for you.

Apprentices are enrolled in training that leads to:

• Industry-recognized credentials and college academic credits.
• A paycheck from day one that is guaranteed to increase as you learn new skills.
• Hands-on career training in a wide selection of programs, such as health care, construction, information technology, and geospatial careers.

Apprentices spend much of their day working under the guidance of a journeyman worker who guides on-the-job learning in the critical manufacturing work processes and related tasks. In addition, apprentices participate in formal education and assessments that help them to attain valuable MSSC advanced manufacturing certification, which they can use to advance both their education and career.

Apprentices participate in regular assessments that provide them with feedback on their learning and on-the-job performance. Apprentices who embrace this feedback will experience significant learning and personal development, allowing them to advance their careers.

Apprentices earn a living wage while learning new skills and credentials that will help them succeed in a high-demand career. Apprentices learn the core skills required in advanced manufacturing. This enables them to make a valuable contribution at work, while also preparing them for career advancement opportunities in the manufacturing industry. Apprenticeships build strong basic and academic skills that they can use to continue their education and pursue a degree.

In order to obtain the completion credential, apprentices must successfully complete courses in industrial math, industrial communications, manufacturing technology systems and processes, industrial blueprint reading, and OSHA 10. Apprentices also master on-the-job competencies in safety, equipment operation, measurement and inspection, product quality, continuous improvement, inventory, and material processes, routine equipment maintenance, and production equipment setup.

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Must be able to use hand tools (i.e., torque wrench, drills, and inspection tools).
• Ability to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level, and square.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills and Microsoft Office programs.
• This facility requires special access, and therefore, all candidates must be U.S. citizens at least 18 years of age.
• Applicants must complete the TABE test with minimum scores as follows:
  • Reading: 6.0
  • Math: 6.0

Production experience in a manufacturing environment and/or equivalent education or certification. Specialized training in specific aspects of job functions and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks.
