Fincantieri is a shipbuilding powerhouse with nearly two and half centuries of experience. We are a legend in designing and building, having built more than 7,000 innovative and often highly-complex vessels to historic icons of the sea, such as the Italian Naval Academy training ship, Amerigo Vespucci.
Fincantieri Marine Group is the U.S. subsidiary of this world-renowned shipbuilder. We have brought centuries of experience and knowledge from our parent company to our U.S. shipyards. We are uniquely positioned to provide cost-effective solutions for the U.S. government markets. We solve the challenge of new construction, repair of existing vessels, and conversion projects.
Fincantieri Marine Group is comprised of three Great Lakes shipyards:
Fincantieri Marinette Marine (FMM) boasts some of the best engineering and naval architecture minds in the industry, a skilled, safe, motivated workforce, and a management team keenly focused on quality.
Founded in 1942 in Marinette, Wis. to meet America’s growing demand for naval construction, we have since built more than 1,500 vessels. Our portfolio includes the Navy’s Constellation Class Frigates, the Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship, the improved Navy Lighterage System, mine countermeasure vessels and ocean tugs, as well as U.S. Coast Guard icebreakers, buoy tenders, and response vessels. Because of our record of delivering ahead of schedule and within contracted costs, FMM has a long-standing relationship with the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.
Our parent company, Fincantieri, has invested over $250 million in our 550,000 square foot operations transforming us into a modern shipbuilding powerhouse, including manufacturing, warehouse, and receiving space, and the capacity to simultaneously build two Constellation Class Frigates per year.
Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding (FBS) is a full-service shipyard in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. Our 63-acre shipyard is open year-round and equipped with climate-controlled manufacturing facilities, computer-aided manufacturing equipment, a 432’ U.S. Navy-Certified Floating Drydock, an 1158’ x 140’ Graving Dock, ample waterfront space, and lifting capacity to meet the most demanding requirement.
FBS is proud to be the preferred facility for the repair business on the Great Lakes. We are experts at managing critical deadlines in the repair and sustainment of the Great Lakes Fleet, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Army Corp of Engineers.
Fincantieri ACE Marine (FAM) is a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled aluminum construction facility in Green Bay, Wis. This shipyard uses innovative LEAN manufacturing techniques and processes to construct high-quality small boats and modular products for U.S. government clients. Advanced production techniques and efficiencies in production allow us to produce new vessel designs and modules at low risk and high quality.
By utilizing pre-outfitted modules, a 50% production efficiency was achieved during the recent highly successful USCG Response Boat-Medium (RB-M) Program. In addition to the USCG RB-M Program, FAM is currently building aluminum superstructure panels and modules for the Navy’s Freedom Class Littoral Combat Ships (LCS).

With operations in Canada and Houston, Vard offers professional ship design, engineering, and shipbuilding technology services to our clients. VARD Marine increases our ability to specialize in the offshore supply and support market. They allow us to design advanced offshore and specialized vessels while focusing on long-term relationships and close cooperation with both shipbuilders and ship owners.
